RATINGS AND REVIEW

Saturday night’s episode of Doctor Who, Nightmare in Silver, drew an audience of around 4.7 million viewers, with a peak of 5.6 million. Final figures will, as usual, be released next week, these often see an increase in the audience, factoring in those who reschedule their viewing. The show received 21.4% of the total TV audience. The nation, it appears, still loves its fix of celebrity chumminess, dancing dogs and crying, camera-fodder folks, as Britain’s Got Talent topped the ratings again with 10.9 million, a 47% share of the audience. Meanwhile BBC’s top show for the evening was another regurgitated holiday-camp talent show, The Voice, which saw 7.4 million. I know what Britain’s got, but let’s not go there...

NIGHTMARE IN SILVER - NEW IMAGES

Some wonderful new images for the next episode have been revealed by SFX, including this stylistic shot of the Cybermen emerging in a scene very reminiscent of 1967's Tomb of the Cybermen.

One of the most intriguing images is, however, this shot of the Doctor talking to... the Doctor! One of whom has some sort of cybernetic prosthesis attached to his face.

CYBERMEN AND DALEKS TO JOIN ZYGONS FOR 50TH?

Hot off the press from Digital Spy, former Doctor Who writer Robert Banks Stewart has hinted that there may well be a plethora of Who monsters appearing in the 50th anniversary episode. It has already been confirmed that the Doctor's former foes the Zygons will feature.

Banks Stewart, creator of the shape-shifting aliens, said "The Zygons are in there with all the others - particularly the Daleks and the Cybermen." Currently promoting his new crime thriller novel The Hurricane's Tail, Banks Stewart told Digital Spy. "[But] nobody yet knows what the plot of the 50th will be - Steven Moffat and his team in Cardiff, they are quite rightly keeping it all secret."

It's safe to say that fans are expecting a monster-fest for the November special, so this is encouraging news. While the Cybermen are due to re-appear in a Neil Gaiman episode as part of the current season (7B), there's no reason why they wouldn't make another appearance later on.

NEIL GAIMAN EPISODE GETS TITLE

Neil Gaiman's second Doctor Who episode will be called Nightmare In Silver.

The writer has penned a new script featuring classic Doctor Who monster, the Cybermen. Gaiman told Digital Spy last year that he would only be willing to return if he could outdo himself,

"If I ever come up with a plot that is better than [The Doctor's Wife]... I would absolutely come back to it." he said.

We have faith that Gaiman can deliver.

The Doctor returns in The Bells of Saint John on March 30th.

WHO 50TH UPDATE - NEIL GAIMAN - THE SNOWMEN

LATEST 50TH UPDATE:

Ninth Doctor, Christopher Eccleston has told RedCarpetNewsTV that Doctor Who's 50th anniversary hasn't even crossed his mind.

Doctor Who hits its landmark show on November 23, 2013 but Eccleston was giving nothing away.

"Would I like to be involved? If I told you that, I'd have to shoot you," he said.
So, what exactly is Eccleston's involvement, if any? Who knows for now. Only time (and space) will tell.

Check out Christopher Eccleston's full interview with RedCarpetTV below:

With Gaiman on writing duty and the return of one of the shows most iconic villains, the episode looks set to be on of the highest points of the second half of season 7, and it's even attracted some stellar actors to bring it to life.

Along with Matt Smith and his latest companion, Jenna Louise-Coleman, Gaiman's instalment will see the aforementioned misfits played by Warwick Davis (Life's Too Short), Tamzin Outhwaite (EastEnders) and Jason Watkins (Being Human).
We. Are. Excited.
